Blood Art

Why did Nine and Ten die?

Nine and Ten aren’t important characters to the first part of the story at the very least. They were used to show the wickedness of Tony and how easily he’ll throw lives away to further his plans, and drive Blue to stop Tony due to his remorse of killing the pair, even if later on we find out he only killed one of the two. They were simply designed as plot devices. But, as we continue into the story, we find out there was more than just those two in their line of numbered-name characters, as we meet Eight, who meets Liam and Charlotte and gives them some weaponry as a fail-safe if Blue perishes when fighting Tony. So while Nine and Ten were, in the moment, just to show the cruelty of the world of ULTRABLUE, Eight’s introduction shows that there’s still room for more stories with these characters, as Eight survives in the end and even seems to be on somewhat friendly terms with Liam.
